Christmas Parade

The City of Hinton is planning its next big event. The Annual Christmas Parade is sure to be a hit again as it seems to grow this year. The start time has been changed to 5:30 to allow for people to decorate their floats with Christmas lights. Last year it snowed during the parade and it was beautiful. The Spirit of Hinton Award winner Lonnie Mullins will be the Grand Marshall. Lonnie has been county commissioner for many years and owned and operated WMTD radio in Hinton back when I was growing up here. Our Snow Queen Kelsie Lively will be in the parade with her grandmother Martha Morgan who was Queen in 1962. There will also be our special guests the Summers County Lady Bobcats Volleyball team who just won the State Championships. There will be a Christmas bazaar and reception at the Hinton Technology Center before the parade to honor our special guests.
The annual holiday lighting contest begins this week with judging to happen around Christmas week. The winners will be announced the first week in January.
